“For well-born souls, value does not depend on the number of years”. This adage refers to young people who demonstrate values and excellent abilities.

Should this expression be used for an individual who, from childhood to the last years of his professional career, has always demonstrated the desire to do better?

One would describe this individual as a passionate performer. This is the case of our “Star Employee” of the season: Mr. Tetougnima Komlan NAMESSI. Known as Mr. LEO by his colleagues, he today represents the archive of BEST PRATICES in SHIPPING of OMA GROUP.

Leo joined the group in 1999 as the then MD’s gardener. From there, he joined the operation team as a trainee and junior officer. His dedication and go-getter spirit propelled him to occupy a higher position within the shipping department.

Currently, Leo is the shipping manager of OMA Togo, a position he has occupied since 2014. He’s self-disciplined and easy-going with all. His loyalty to the company cannot be underestimated. He is the reference point as far as shipping best practices are concerned. He represents one of the success stories of employee development and retention of the OMA Group.

On this day, we turn our lenses to Lome, the capital of Togo where Leo and his team are still doing wonders. The Togo country manager and the HR manager never cease to express their satisfaction of Leo’s performance. We salute Leo and congratulate him for an exemplary career life worth emulating.

From Dakar, Abidjan, Accra, Lome, Cotonou, Ouagadougou, Walvis Bay, Johannesburg all the way to Port Louis with one voice we say Congratulation and well done!

Article written by HR management team

In the heart of Ivory Coast, renowned for its legendary hospitality, this year’s Annual Logistics Country Managers Meeting was not just an event but a cornerstone in our journey towards shaping the future of logistics. Hosted under the adept guidance of our Group COO, Mr. Samad Osman, and the invaluable support of the Ivory Coast team led by Mr. B Aitchedji, the meeting was a fusion of strategic discussions, goal setting, and the strengthening of camaraderie among leaders in our field.

We were honoured to have the presence and contributions of our Group CEO, Mr. Gerrit Van Der Merwe, whose insights and leadership continue to inspire us all. The event’s success was a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines our group, showcasing the collective effort of every participant.

This year’s meeting focused on crafting our future by discussing strategies, setting goals, and engaging in meaningful dialogue about the path forward. Through a series of thematic sessions, workshops, open discussions, and even fun games, this created an ambiance filled with memorable moments, laughter, and, admittedly, a bit of pain as some challenges proved tough. Yet, it was the prevailing team spirit and a competitive yet fun mindset that carried us through to the end.

The different themes explored during the meeting, coupled with interactive workshops and open discussions, allowed us to dive deep into the complexities and opportunities within our industry. The inclusion of fun games helped break the ice, foster teamwork, and create an atmosphere where ideas could flow freely, ensuring that every moment was not only educational but also enjoyable.

As we reflect on the success of this gathering, we were reminded of the power of unity and shared vision. The discussions we had and the goals we have set pave the way for a future where we not only meet the challenges of the logistics industry but also redefine its standards.

This meeting was a reminder of what we can achieve together, and it’s with great anticipation that we look forward to the road ahead.

This was a joint logistics project between OMA Logistics Togo and Dako Logistics Gmbh to deliver the main components for the rehabilitation of the Nangbeto hydroelectric power plant, situated some 200 km from Lomé along unmade roads. The client, Voith Hydro, is rehabilitating the hydroelectric dam as part of a two-year project.

The equipment comprised two Transformers weighing 42 tons each which were loaded on-board a hydraulic low-bed truck to protect them during the journey.

40km of road repairs had to be made along the stretch of unmade road between Atakpamé and the Nangbeto site and escorts provided – ensuring they were both delivered on time and in perfect condition to their remote location.
