Togo Hosts Maritime Conference 10-15 October 2016

Wednesday 12th October 2016

The Heads of State and Government of the 54 countries in the African Union will meet in Lomé on 15 October 2016 with experts and leaders from the business world, in order to establish a road map on Maritime Security in Africa. This special session will build on the results of the summits held in Yaoundé (June 2013) and the Seychelles (February 2015), in order to put in place an African strategy for the protection of its seas and oceans, to provide peace, security and stability, and to make African maritime space the key driver for sustainable economic development.

As many as 4000 people are expected to attend the event and as a result, some traffic congestion is anticipated around the city of Lomé, including in the vicinity of the port, hotels and the airport. OMA’s operational activities, such as crew changes, immigration formalities and logistics (clearances, deliveries & transportation), could also be affected.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation for any inconvenience that may occur during this important event. Further information on the conference
