OMA Group Signs Neptune Declaration
Together with 650 other signatories, OMA Group is proud to be the first Africa-based ship agency company to sign The Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change, which is an initiative of the Global Maritime Forum.
Dedicated to overcoming the crisis in crew changes and repatriation of crew members at the end of their contracts of service, The Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change defines four main actions to facilitate crew changes and which ultimately, keeps global supply chains functioning:
- Recognizing seafarers as key workers and give them priority access to Covid-19 vaccines;
- Establishing and implementing gold-standard health protocols based on existing best practices;
- Increasing collaboration between ship operators and charterers to facilitate crew changes; and
- Ensuring air connectivity between key maritime hubs for seafarers.
“We are proud to support this campaign which is committed to the safety and wellbeing of seafarers, on whom so many people and industries depend.” said Gerrit Van der Merwe, OMA Group CEO.
